A relief effort for hospitality workers is a non-profit group composed of restaurant industry folks serving Franklin County in Columbus, Ohio. The program’s focus is to identify and utilize resources to assist with financial insecurity among restaurant industry workers and families.
Service! to date has served more than 10,000 meals to unemployed service-industry professionals and their families. The group averaged 200 boxed meals each day from three pickup locations, with an ongoing dedication to generating a minimal amount of food waste.
Service! one-time grants address short-term hardships for those who have worked on a part- or full-time basis in the restaurant industry and are experiencing a lack of resources to pay for essential expenses. Our goal is to help break the cycle of financial insecurity among those working in the service industry.
Service! has a goal to alleviate financial insecurity in Franklin County by promoting opportunities for self-sufficiency. Our programs include identifying need, raising funds, and distributing grants to address immediate needs among service-industry professionals in the areas of hunger, housing, healthcare, education and transportation.
As a thank you to central Ohio hospitality workers who have sacrificed so much, we gave away 100 meals to service industry workers and their families to enjoy on Thanksgiving Day.
